My Old Boots

I have an old pair of boots that look like they should be thrown away. I remember buying them before going out to the desert to ride dirt bikes or maybe it was quads. In that first outing with my new boots, I managed to scuff them and put a big mark from the shifter rubbing on the top of it. They have been through many trails in Mexico while I watched the Baja 1000. One time, I spilled tar on them while I replaced a shingles roof in the middle of summer. I should really throw them out since I definitely got my money’s worth out of that old pair of boots. I, myself sometimes feel like that old pair of boots. I have a couple of scuffs or should I say scars. Ever since I was growing up I fell many times while jumping with my old bicycle. So many that I lost track of how I got some of my scars. I have scars on my legs from crashing my Kawasaki Ninja while riding in the mountains near Julian on old Sunrise Highway. I managed to total my bike but my scars healed and I really enjoyed riding that old bike and I do not have any regrets. I have had many scars on my hands. Once I stripped a nut on my old 1966 Ford Mustang and my knuckles hit the fan. I have many more from when I used a disk grinder with no guard and an oversize wheel. I managed to grind the skin off my fingers pretty good. All in all, I too, like my old boots show the tear and wear of a life I have enjoyed. I hope to keep getting more battle scars as I get even older as I will not be returning this old body back without getting my money's worth!
